Dwarf Fortress 0.23.130.23a Released
« on: January 17, 2007, 02:25:00 am »

Download (Click refresh on your browser if it doesn't show up)

Changes

The backbone of temperature is in now, but there's still a lot to do.  I'm not working on it for a while again (except to fix stuff).  I'll post the next stage as soon as I get through classes and so on tomorrow.

Capn and ft found a bug with traveling in adventure mode in 23.125.23a.  You'll definitely want to update if you DL'd it in that little window where it was up.

I'm wondering, if i mine out chunks of ore near the lava and get a lava flood, will the chunks of ore be "melted" by the heat, or simply destroyed as per before? Though, the destruction of coal by the lava would make more sense then metals... Heh, to get a platinum floor, just fill room with platinum ore and flood with lava for 1-2 months. Alternately, use a nobles' room to achive the same effect.  :p

All right, so now we have weather and temperature working, but...how do we know what's what ? Is it a hot day or a cold one ? Is it a hot item or not ? Is it hot enough to melt metals or just to warm up the room nicely ? How do we know ?

qwip, is it using your browser cache for the other?  Press refresh.  I get the updated page from both links.

You can just the adventure mode temperature with capital P.  Burning items get !!.  But the nuances cannot currently be judged, until you die a horrible death.  More feedback is needed, but I haven't done that yet.  There's still a lot to do.  Dwarves also won't fight fires, which can lead to some unfortunate situations and slow fortress deaths.

Updated again.  Fixed problem where food would not be eaten out of barrels once the economy kicked in.  The version number jumped because I found 5 finished reqs during my dev bookkeeper while setting up the new Future of the Fortress.
