"Strawberry" vs "Strawberry plant"
« on: May 10, 2015, 11:42:49 am »

I've noticed something on my kitchen screen. There are two entries for strawberries: "strawberry", which is cookable and brewable, and "strawberry plant", which is only cookable. I've got both herbalists and a strawberry farm, and I think the "strawberry plants" are coming from the farm.

Is this a bug, or am I missing something in some food industry process?

No, there are several plants that produce two items; a fruit/berry as well as the green part. I THINK picking such plants out of season using herbalism will provide the plant part only, not the seed bearing part. Quite messy and confusing when setting up food stockpiles to figure out which is the brewable part and which is the cookable one, and if the other part even exists.

I caught a dwarf in the middle of picking up and hauling the product of a single tile of farmed strawberries, and checked his inventory. He was hauling both a "strawberry" and a "strawberry plant". I guess farming yields strawberries in a pair of fruit/plant - my stocks lists 8 strawberries and 9 strawberry plants.

It's pretty confusing indeed, thanks for clearing up.
