Toady: "I finished a simple library map maker, so we can move...and animal reproduction. Next up, hard drinking in adv mode taverns."
"Next up, hard drinking in adv mode taverns."

Drinking booze... a lot of booze.
The "hard" part could refer to hard liquor, or to the amount of effort one is putting in to getting smashed. :P

Mechanics direcly relating to caverns, presumably, in a less general way than the normal ambivalent alcoholism of pretty much every dwarf fortress, and most other races, or the "free booze from the cosmos" attitude of Drunks (profession).

So perhaps: bar fights, toys, snacks, drunken brawls, PAYING for food and drink, etc.

Bar fights? Oh man, i'll have to make atleast one adventurer whose entire career is travelling to cities and picking fights with people in bars to find the strongest warriors.

Actually reading the devlog, maybe a better one would be to go to libraries, beat up nerds and then dance on their tables. Maybe also while drunk.

If toady implements hangovers then tantrum spirals will get WAY worse. Perma drunk dwarfs is definitely the only way to go as well all well know.

Haha, that'd be bad enough for dwarves. What I'd like to see is a tavern full of frustrated hungover drunks in a human city. Having a whole-town-brawl would be badass.
@Graknorke No fun in beating up people who can't fight back effectively. Though it'd be fun to throw a party in a library only to have books tossed at you.

Nah, "hard drinking" is an expression in my particular American dialect, and presumably Toady's too, since he used it. It just means drinking a lot.

A "hard drinker" is someone who's probably an alcoholic.

Clearly, this question can only be answered with a demonstration.
