Messed up engraving textures
« on: May 02, 2015, 12:57:23 pm »

My engraving textures look as such:
The bit with all the 1s and such is engraved, the rest is just smooth shale. The problem occurs on both the Obisidan and Ironhand tilesets, haven't tested any others.
EDIT: Oh, there's a weird option called "Toggle engravings" in the designation menu that seems to change this. I don't know where that comes from, but ti does the job.

The toggle engravings setting sets the tiles to 'obscured' or 'not obscured', when the tiles are obscured you just get the wriggly lines to represent engravings, but when not obscured DF tries to show you a graphical representation of the engraving itself i.e. 'this is an engraving of a dwarf' would use a generic dwarf tile.

Ah, like that. I take that this is a new feature? I haven't played DF in a while, admittedly, so at first I blamed it on a bug in the graphics pack.

It's at least as old as 31.25, so 2010, but packs like Phoebus have it set to obscured by default.

IOW, not a glitch, functioning as intended, it's the tileset that's faulty.

It was definitely in 40d, and I think in 0.28 as well. Maybe even older than that.
