As for the actual subject, this is really cool, I wondered what would happen if you did that. Further !!Science!! is required.

this happens to me all the time. it's mostly due to said demon from hell getting into a fight with another causing them to become legendary and popping up in travel menu... or because you rested too many times on site and a demon gets added to resident allowing them to break free.
then there's the case where technically there's nothing stopping a demon from fast traveling out of hell by using the tunnel roads as DF only now has 2 states overworld and underworld and underworld kinda also covers hell too.
oh and the case of world gen allowing a demon to become a noble also a case.

Well, demons that get out the normal way usually end up in charge of some nation or other, I've got at least one gobbo civ with an Echidna Demon as "God-King", but  it's interesting that marauding demons freed from HFS will also end up in charge of something.
