Soundsense does keep track of the world, in order to know what sounds to play when. So DFHack definitely will be able to add a plugin for a tutorial.
Soundsense watches the game log, which has lots of interesting information about the ongoing game, but not quite in enough detail to direct a tutorial.  That said, StoneSense seems to know enough about the world, proving that it is possible.
There also should be a tutorial for worldgen and picking your embark site, or else people will get lost before they even start.
Good point.  The earliest lessons would probably just be loading a game that's already embarked, but a lesson on embarking will be helpful.

There are plenty of videos about that shows up searching "Dwarf Fortress Tutorial" and I've watched plenty of them over the years.

After a while, I can tell how waste of a time it is for me (despite a genuine enthusiastic effort of the content maker) because there is no exact plan to teach in a concise and focused manner.  Videos drag on, goes to different screens, and hard to catch what buttons were pressed to get to the screen, nor clearly explain what is being done.

And other inconsistency between various DF video tutorials are lack of labels to determine what version it is being shows, and what tile set.
Embark screens, sometimes show up with tiles sets, and sometimes ASCII--then it becomes a hassle to figure out if the tile region is a civ, a mountain, etc.

The real question is, are we going to keep talking about it or are we going to get to work on planning in a major fashion?

Maybe something like a Wikipedia Edit-A-Thin party--I hear that's a thing now.
