Assigning several weapons?
« on: March 11, 2015, 02:04:20 am »

Is there any use to this?
Are the dwarves able to equip more than one weapon?
If they are, will they use more than one of their equipped weapons?

I don't think so. Unless they lose hold of the first one.

Yeah, it works. It's pretty unefficient but not very important when your dwarves are legendary warriors.

I've got a dwarf who kept changing weapons and he had spearman and maceman at equal levels, so I just gave him a spear and a mace and I was done with it.

They can do it, and you can even give companions multiple weapons in adventure mode, but they'll tend to favor whichever one ends up in their main hand and mostly only use the other if the first is stuck or grappled.

It's understandable, if you don't do something like add the tag [ATTACK_FLAG_INDEPENDENT_MULTIATTACK] to a weapon then it lowers the accuracy pretty badly.

They'll train with every weapon you give them, but it's not good for real combat. I give all the recruits each training weapon plus crossbow, then give them a real weapon when they develop enough proficiency to be titled by it, leave them the crossbow but drop that or their melee weapon before combat, depending on which is required and which they have the most skill in.
