I was thinking about Prepared meals, or the lack of choice ingame, so I think there should be more types of meals other than biscuits, stews and Roasts, like how about curries, pastas casseroles (difference from is stew is how its cooked I think)

Can't you mod to make food? Or is it items. The wiki says you can make a pot of seeds from a furnace... so I'm thinking you can make something like that.

Food (prepared meals) is a type of item, and one that can be defined in the raw.

Also, yes, recipes are coming in with the second tavern release. It'll be groovy.

The current names of the meals are pretty much meaningless.  They only serve to say how many ingredients were used in the making.  The "stew" has no need of water or even a liquid ingredient.

Personally, I'd like to see the addition of "flavoring/spicing" agents more than anything.  Currently, a dorf only gains a happy thought from eating a preferred food item, but I'm imagining spices would almost always give a happy thought.  "I ate a delicious meal!" that was well cooked and full of flavor.  I'd also hope to add more underground crops that could double as flavor...  Like "Fire Imp's Tongue" that could be a form of underground pepper.  Booze could also be considered a "flavoring" agent.  Again, these wouldn't add any actual nutrients/keep dorfs fed, but they'd be a source of happy thoughts.
