About wrestler training...
« on: February 21, 2015, 12:34:35 am »

The first squad and the third squad are all wrestlers. The second squad are marksdwaves, I don't want to talk about them though. The third squad are newbies and I haven't equipped them all.

Squad #1 are all veterans. I used standard training method: a barrack, a shield, some armors, no danger room, etc. The screenshots were taken on the 4th year. As you can see, dorfs gain discipline and fighter skill fast, then shield and armor, then other fighting skills, including concentration.

All of them are legendary +5 observers. This skill can be gained easily. Unlike other fighting skills, they still gain observer skill when the target is unconscious.

I go without shield first and add them later - shields reduce dodge gains from sparring - and put a trainer in the newbie squads. (Also I give my marksdwarves preliminary training - especially dodging and shield helps them a lot.)
