Community Headcanon and Lore Thread

I'm certain that something like this has been done before, probably countless times.
This thread doesn't require much explanation.
Post your headcanon, personal thoughts, or your own lore about the world of Dwarf Fortress. While blanket topics are the main goal, specific stories about specific worlds or mods are also accepted. Let your minds run free.

The next post on this thread is reserved for links to specific posts of interest. The one after that's reserved just in case.

Dwarf women either have a) smooth faces with heavy body hair or b) facial hair that remains short and rakish.  They never grow the long, flowing beards of their male counterparts.

Dwarves can be very intelligent and creative when they put their minds to it.  They just utterly lack common sense.

Rutherers are carnivores related to cats and dogs, so their legs are built in a similar way.
