Saving Uniforms - Is this a thing?
« on: February 14, 2015, 08:03:44 am »

Every time I start the military in a new fort, I have to set up the new uniforms which is not fun. Is there a way of setting uniforms so that they come up with the default metal, leather, archer etc. in each fort?

Also, if you ever figure out why poets/bards/dancers just randomly start butchering people/getting butchered, please don't fix it, I love never knowing when a dance party will turn into a slaughter.

Any kind of repetitive work can be made more convenient by macros.

DFHack's gui/clone-uniform can do it from an existing uniform. The example config binds it to ctrl-C. Go to the uniforms page and highlight the uniform to duplicate, then press ctrl-C, assuming you have the right version of dfhack installed.

Just go to the uniform screen, press ctrl r, then make all your uniforms. Then press ctrl r again, then ctrl s, and type in an appropriate name like "make all uniforms." You should now be able to press ctrl l at any time to re select that macro from a list. Press ctrl p to play it.

When moving versions, go to data/init/macros (IIRC) and copy it across to the same folder in your new version.

Macros could go wrong though, if the civilizations have different item choices.

That is really cool.
