I have a couple of Kobolds, a couple of humans, a Jackal and a Black Crested Gibbon.

What can I do with them?

I can't even work out how to get them out of the cages

I thought I could put a lever down and open them remotely, but apparently not..

Bah, spent like an hour trying to find how to do this, I put a message up and 5 minutes later find the info

Hahahaha I feel for ya man.  When I very first stared playing DF I was so confused and lost and just followed the easymode wiki guide and it had me place a bunch of cage traps and I ran into the same exact issue.  month after month, year and year of seiges comin and going and my animal stockpile filllllling up with cages full of goblins and trolls and toher misc mean stuff. 

I couldn't get the dump to work right for some reason but didn't know thats where the problem was, so I couldnt get th emethods to remove their arms and armor to work, so I released a few right into the middle of my base more then a few times.  Then I kept trying the lever method only to find you had to actually place the traps differently for it to work.  What a frustrating experience in my DF learning time that was.

This is eaxctly the kind of stuff I wish toady would work on to fix.  Some parts of this game are just waaaayy overly clunky and need to be made more user friendly and steamlined.

heh Yeah, it's one of those games where the more you know the more you realise you haven't got a clue.
