No exp gain after creating an artifact?

A secretive miner created an artifact quartzite armor stand, but he didn't gain masonry skill at all.
Was it because he's already a legendary miner, so he couldn't gain another legendary skill via strange mood?

Are you sure it was a secretive mood and not a possession? Those don't give any xp. If it wasn't, you should have gotten a legendary mason or stoneworker depending on what skill was used...

Do they have any other legendary skills now? Did they use a mason's workshop? I've never encountered a bug of not getting xp for a mood...

Only legendary miner. I checked in Therapist too.

Miner is a moodable skill too, and makes the same furniture as a masonry mood.

There's the strange mood page on the wiki, it seems like the problem might be that your dwarf used the miner skill to do the artifact, and since they were already legendary in mining it seemed like there was nothing happening

Oh thanks. I didn't realize that.

By the way, he was already legendary miner before the mood. Is it possible for a legendary dwarf to have strange mood of that skill?

As far as i know, a mooding dwarf gets a fixed amount of experience when finishing a non-possessive mood. This experience is always granted, no exceptions. If your dwarf is already legendary in the mooded skill (as the miner above), the gain will not make a visible difference; if the dwarf is already legendary +5 or higher, Dwarf Therapist won't display a change, but experience will be gained; dwarf could already be leg. +12 and go to, i dunno, leg. +18, it'd all be legendary +5 to DT.

Yeah, he gained experience in miner instead of mason. Miner is a moodable skill, sadly.

I got several more moody dorfs.

Another miner created a cabinet using his mining skill.

It was around the 18~19th year when they suddenly began to create artifacts. Maybe I let everyone stay in military for too long.

Mooding legendary miners is good because you get really, really fast miners. You also get excellent soldiers if you use them for that.
