I'm trying out Adventure mode for the first time.
My first adventurer was looting a small storage room when he accidentally built a campfire in the doorway and starved to death.
My second adventurer is currently roaming the halls of the vast underground dwarven complex he was born in.
He's found one other inhabitant, a blacksmith, who mentioned a group of troublesome bandits in a lair far to the east.
I want to go there and smash them, but I have no idea how to exit this fortress.
I've found what seems to be an underground highway or road of sorts, which has occasional cave spider webs (fortunally no spiders) and stairwells leading down at either end. There are what looks like natural cave branches dotting the sides of this highway, but I have no idea what foul creatures lurk in there, and besides they look like an easy place to get lost in.
As I mentioned, there are two stairwells. The eastern one leads down to a forge area filled with statues and what looks like a dining hall, which is where my dorf woke up. The floor between the highway and the forge area is used for storage of various clothing and leather armor (which I pilfered).
The westmost stairwell, at the other end of the highway, leads down to a similar forge area, which is where I encountered the aforementioned blacksmith. There is a storage floor on the way down there as well.
I've been looking for staircases up from the highway floor, but I haven't found any. The forges are all at the lower levels. I'm hesitant to start spelunking the cave entrances, but it looks like I have no choice.
Has anyone had similar experiences? Any advice for a newcomer?
