I'm not sure the word "normal" can ever be applied to dwarven medicine.

At any rate, this one has a rare opportunity.
It's not everyday a medic Dwarf comes upon a live elf.
Who knows what medical discoveries waits within this young elf.. It's tempting to just.. Cut her open.... Isn't it?
Any way.. this dwarf needs attention.. I wonder what we can augment it with? Imagine.. a dwarf with metal exoskeleton.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
You'd love to remove the elf's vital organs and tell Nomal it died of blood loss. Alas, you would not harm a child, and you believe elven children count too.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
You decide not to try to turn the dwarf into some metalic monstrosity. He will be cross about his broken wrists when he wakes up.

Place him in traction. Those broken wrists require immobilisation.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
You have no option but to immobilize the dwarf. Not because you've got any haste in tending to his wrists, but because he'll cause trouble if he's loose. Sadly, you only have one traction bench to keep something still in. You bet any dwarves who see the elf will kill it, and you know that someone so harmless as yourself is ripe to be the elf's next victim.

It reminds you of a children's puzzle about getting a wolf, goat and quarry bush across a lake.

You realize you're the edible plant in this scenario.

There is no way around release the elf though. Oh dear.

Nomal has been away for a while. You hope he didn't grow the good sense to just leave the elf. You would hate be stuck with it.

Check on the elf again, something was off about that doctor.

Not sure if dying of old age is an honor or a shame for weaponmasters. On the one hand, it means they never got the opportunity to die in glorious battle. On the other hand, it means nothing could beat them in glorious battle.

don't tell the doctor, though. i like my wrists unbroken.

Hey, didn't the hospital have a table?  Sure, it had chains and an elf on it, but it was still a table.
