How can a token be added only to the child "caste".
« on: January 08, 2015, 03:49:27 pm »

Hello all,

I would like to add a token to only the child of a creature, but i cann't seem to find a logical way to do it.

Specifically I'm trying to add "adopts owner" to ducklings to simulate imprinting.

I fear it may not be possible, but refuse to abandon hope yet.
Thank yoy for your time.

Unfortunately, this isn't doable through raw modding.

There is no child "caste".

Yeah, no way to do this.

Could you could give everyone an interaction that can only be used once in their life (due to ridiculous cooldowns or a transformation at the end into a caste that doesn't have the tag) that gives themselves a syndrome that gives them the relevant tags, and a second one that takes it away after the same number of game ticks that it takes for them to mature (or have the syndrome wear off in the same number of game ticks it takes for them to mature)? It'd probably do weird things to migrants, but fortborn children might work this way.

Could you could give everyone an interaction that can only be used once in their life...

That would certainly work in theory, but you'd have to keep in mind the limited number of creature tokens you can add via syndromes.

Also newly arrived dwarves still could use it on themselves.

My wrapper script allows for targeting of interactions on children only. CHILD is a profession token, and thus can be used as a targeting requirement.

whoa, I knew one of you guys would find some elaborate way to do it... it's a little more complicated than i anticipated but feels like i could do it with a few tries.
I'll post the result for those interested.
