Is now a good to download the newest version of Dwarf Fortress?

Sorry I have been gone so long. I have been without internet for some time. Last time I was on a new version of Dwarf Fortress was released. I decided to wait to download it due to many bugs being present. Since then I am wondering if now is a good time to download this new version. Are the bugs ironed out enough to consider it worthy the time of a dwarf, or should I wait a bit longer. I am hoping to get an answer quickly (I have less than 15 minutes of internet left).

There's a lot added and a lot of bugs. Mostly problems with military. The additions are definitely something new that you'll want to have a play with, there's a lot of stuff different.

There are still lots of bugs, but I'd consider it stable enough to play.

Next version will probably be out soon and fixes LOTS of bugs. DF 0.40.23 is fine to play. I get maybe 2 crashes in 20 game years. DF 0.40.24 should be better if you have a little patience, though. One big bug that has been fixed is the one that causes the game to crash if you unretire your fortress. Something that I am really looking forward to being able to do safely.

I'd go with version 40.19 for now as there's some significant bugs that were added in 40.20 and not all of which have been fixed.

40.19 is what I'm staying with for now...
40.23 has more advanced features (job priorities, vein mining etc), but has more major bugs from what I've read.

With the military bug Toady just announced he had fixed, I'm personally waiting for the next upcoming release before getting back into the game.
