I've always noticed the embark dwarves are very old for being sent out to settle a new fort but some of them can be pretty ridiculous considering in game dwarves are only supposed to live (160?) years or something like that.
With that in mind I have found the oldest dwarf I've ever had on embark, he is 105 years old with 6 kids

Dwarf will not die of old age before 150 and may live until 180.

In df, those numbers for human is 60 and 120.

Thus a one humdred year old dwarf is roughly equivalent to a middle age human, which is normal.

Ya but you would think they would send a bunch of younger people or at least the middle adged people with their kids
Also 100 is about equivalent to like 50 years old, 50 year old people aren't exactly the most resilient.

They're always adults. Other than that there doesn't seem to be much criteria.

What is the youngest age that anyone has received as a 7 starter pack?

I think my starting seven have always been between 50 & 80. My primary interest is that you say your embark dwarf had a family--it's been my understanding that the embark process creates the first 7 out of thin air, with no familial ties of any kind.

Actually, I find it very convenient to simply halve the ages to get their human equivalents. Children not being able to work until age 12 meshes nicely with 6-year-old human kids doing things like light farm chores & weaving. The dwarven life expectancy of 170 years equates to a human of age of 85. Etc.

Maybe he wasn't an embark dwarf and I looked at the wrong one then

Either way going out to a new settlement at (human equivilent) 52.5 years old probably isn't the best idea

You have to remember that these guys aren't human, and they live in a very scary, scary world. They don't have 9-5 work days and they certainly can't afford to let themselves get weak. Move it or lose it my family says.

I have a co-worker that's well over 60 and the man is more physically fit and active than I am and I'm in my twenties. Plays tennis and racket ball everyday after work. This is two very different worlds and two very different races. It wouldn't surprise me if a 100 year old dwarf could still kick ass and will continue to do so until his dying day.
