Is this a known bug?

Well, I know doors and hatches are not realistic. But pet-passable affects wild animals and undead as well.

Is that a bug at all? If a door can't be opened by animals, there's no reason why wild animals should be better at it.

I think he means if you make a door pet-passable so your dogs can go through, it shouldn't allow hippos to march in or zombies.

Why not? The in-game description is 'Keep tightly closed/Make pet-passable', the implication being that pet-passable doors are actually slightly ajar so that animals (usually pets) can push them open.

Most wild animals do not have [CANOPENDOORS], so they can't open doors at all - presumably, Tame creatures are explicitly granted the ability to open pet-passable doors in your fortress.
