Hi my name is Blake, I've been playing Dwarf Fortress since mid-2006 to early 2007, that's about 7 years and counting. Every year I start a new Dwarf Fortress and every year I play at least a 100 hours if not more. I have only donated $20 which isn't even fair to the game-maker and I apologize deeply for this, when I first started playing I was only 13-ish and boy was that an adventure. I obviously couldn't donate then, but now an official 23 year old college drop out working full time, I have no excuse! It isn't much but I will donate $5 for every year I've played Dwarf Fortress and will continue to do so until I stop playing living. I recommend everyone else to do this if able to do so, we owe this guy a huge chunk of our lives, but than again maybe he owes us money for making such an addicting game and wasting our time! This game could easily blow up on steam just look at the knock-offs Gnomoria($8), Towns($25), Craft the World($19) and then there are games that are similar but have added their own touch like Prison Architect selling at $39!!! I'm sorry but if you pretend your dwarfs are actually prisoners than it's practically the same game. Dwarf Fortress, even in 2008, is miles ahead of any of these games, but yet he is generous enough to allow us to pay him or not. I'm sure I'm not the only A-hole that hasn't donated and it is the season of giving. If I could send him a holiday care package of chocolates, candy canes, and crappy holiday novelties I would, but I'll just give him cash instead!
Merry Christmas everyone!
