Patrik which version are you using my seeds tab tells the truth I'm using .22.

Ugh, I don't know what it is, but I cannot get my dwarves to plant anything. I believe I'm using the Mayday tileset. I don't know if that affects the thing that tells you the amount of seeds I have. I've been waiting for a while, hoping to get seeds somehow, but nothing is being planted.

download the latest version of df it has several things that help as far as farming is concerned. IT tells you have seeds to plant and if your in the wrong season etc. However if you want to stick to what your doing then to make seeds your dwarves have to process the plants you have collected in some way (eat (not cook!!) brew, process to bag, process to barrel)

I want to keep the graphic pack I have right now, because the default doesn't seem at all user friendly. I have v40.05. I don't know what future updates bring, but I do have a recent version.

Okay here are a list of a farming things.
1 build a farm plot
2 Have your dwarves field labors enabled
3. have seeds
   3.a) To make seeds process the plants you have collected from outside
4. Make sure you have chosen what to plant
   4.a) after you have selected the farm plot select your season press a,b,c,d
  4.b) after selecting the seain scrol through the plant list and select one select one by pressing enter when the plant you'd like to plant is highlighted
5. Make sure your chosen farmers have ALL other labors turned off have access to the farms have access to the seeds and are not crazy berserk or dead.
