Armok Save Me!

Gaaah!!! I'm visiting my grandmother in NJ. She's got dial-up and even if I downloaded DF it would probably run too slow, if it ran at all! I'm going to be here for the next four days!!! I've not played DF in a week for various reasons as it is!

Fenrir has been very unhappy lately. He witness a slow internet connection recently.
Fenrir needs Dwarf Fortress to get through the working day and is beginning to work slowly due to it's scarcity. (No Google toolbar, so please correct my spelling!)

Quit whining... You didn't actually used dial up for years when there wasn't something better to use back then.  ;)

Hahaha, dial up!  It would be something to complain about if she only had a 2400 baud modem.

5-10 minutes? Are you kidding? Well, maybe your dialup, but for years I had 28k dialup waaaay out in the country. Would have taken an hour or two to download that. I remember trying to download a 200 megabyte file; took more than a day and never did finish. If her connection is anything like mine was, you're screwed. Not even Armok can save you.

Does her PC have a USB slot? Just go the nearest internet cafe and download DF to a stick. It'll also save her some money because dial-up is expensive.

Just get her to get dsl or something its way cheaper than dial up in the long run.

If the computer is the problem then go out and buy a laptop some time that way you will never have this problem again.
