You've been waiting in line for hours on end. The air is stuffy and hot, as is the norm on Mars. No matter how much terraforming they worked on the red planet it still remained red and sweltering. Your clothes were already sweaty by the time you got to the registration office this morning, and it only got worse by noon. Thankfully, you finally arrive at the front of the desk, headed by an aging Martian woman writing something on a pad of paper. You steal a brief glance from her, and she hands you a paper.
Reading it you realize its a registration form. "Fill that out later." The adjutant disappears below her desk and reemerges with a tag, a stamp and a uniform. "It's your only one, so don't bother washing it. You don't want to go training naked." She waves you away.
You head to a nearby desk to fill out your form.
NAME: GENDER:AGE: [Conscription required for ages 15-25 for training. All older Martians will be placed in factories and farms. Children will be taken and indoctrinated.]
There is an area for your photo.
APPEARANCE:Return the form to the nearest adjutant after completion and report to [HARPER CAMP] within 24 hours of submission. Mars thanks you for your service.
Some background info:This game is a sort of test drive I have for an idea of mine. You are a Martian conscript recruited to combat the insurrection on Mars. Mars has only recently recovered from its war with Jupiter, so its army is severely weakened. The Martian Dictator has announced global conscription for all Martians aged 15 to 25. (Despite his title, his harsh actions and the presence of rebels, the Dictator isn't that kind of dictator. It is based on the Roman practice of electing a dictator in times of need, and he resigns when he is no longer needed. The Martian Dictator is a war hero who successfully won the Jovian-Martian war.)
There is no successful faster-than-light technology yet. Mankind has only spread to seven planets: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Earth, or the Homeworld as it is known to commoners, has been rendered inhospitable 5,000 years ago. Pluto is an independent planet which acts as a prison for the Solar Heptarchy's criminals. No alien life has been officially found, but rumors are that some exist on Pluto.
Another important thing is your social standing is how 'human' you are. Your character is an average Martian. The seven planets' inhabitants have over the years changed. Each looks different and they are easy to distinguish from one another. Some are more 'impure' while a rare few are more human-looking. The leaders of the Heptarchy are the purest humans still alive. Basically, the more human, the more popular and successful.
Any other questions just ask.
