Dwarves won't smelt pig iron!

Hey guys,
I've run into a (rather annoying) problem: my dwarves refuse to make pig iron! I've every ingredient available, all of them are easily reachable, etc. The job "Smelt Pig Iron" does actually start, and the worker starts to collect the ingredients, but as soon as he sets out to get the second piece of fuel, he cancels the job due to "Job item misplaced".
I'm pretty sure that this is a bug, more specifically, it seems that the worker wants to collect the first piece of fuel (which he already brought to the smelter) again. This also happens at the forge: I can forge items which only use one unit of metal (helms, shields, gauntlets, etc.) without problems, but as soon as I order a breastplate forged, the job is getting cancelled after the worker collected the first piece of metal.
Is there any workaround for this bug?

I didn't have this problem in 40.19 (since I had made some lay pewter bars without a problem).

Started the save in 40.20, upgraded during play to 40.21. I already had this problem in 40.20, though.

Toady fixed the armor part,  so it will probably cover the pig iron part of your problem

Yeah, I just tested the pig iron reaction and the armor fix worked for it.  Perhaps we'll see 0.40.22 tomorrow, circumstances permitting.
