undead left.
« on: December 09, 2014, 11:39:37 am »

I had an alert and a few undead show up on my screen after the first winter.  Then they left, the three necromancers ran across my map.
Why did they leave?

Were they scared off by the fire breathing fb that was crashing my frame rate?  Or just taking pity on me? I had tonnes of corpses for them.

My highest pop count was 70 something. Hardly any exported wealth.

Maybe they were just passing through and didn't want to attack you?

I've experienced this too, where a handfull of zombies keep siegeing me from the left side of the map and then walking off the top side. Are they just generating with insufficient numbers for a siege?

No.  They seem to literally be passing by.  The game puts them onto your map, but they dont care about you.  Theyll likely still kill things if given the chance, but they didnt want you.  Its like you are a waypoint for another location.

You arent the center of the world any more, guys.

---

They arent those Romero Zombies, they are the zombies that can build 3 story towers if they are given the correct tools, time, and oversight.  They have basic motor skills.  And very simplistic analytic abilities.

For that matter, Ive noticed a large difference in zombie ai since the 40x came out.

I imagine it being something like this
necro1: Hey, lets go to that old graveyard and have a party with the other necrop-necromancers!
necro2: Oh yeah, the one by that weird dwarven fortress?
necro3: Why dont we take our army of growling undead corpses with us?
necro1&2: k
-some time later-
necro1: Is that a fire spitting forgotten beast?
necro2: Aw, guess we wont be sieging the fortress?
necro3: Suckers, weŽll come back after the FB is gone and they have even MORE corpses.
-Knowing the game, this could very well be the reasoning of the AI. I have seen weirder things-
