Dwarves not hauling
« on: December 14, 2014, 08:52:18 pm »

Hi all

I have 15 dwarves with "No job" marked, while at the same time there is a lot of ore stones on the floor and a stockpile configured to accept specifically those ores (Proof is that there is one dwarf actually carrying those stones with a wheelbarrow).

All those dwarves have all hauling labor enabled.

Why can it be that those dwarfves are not hauling those jobs?

Thanks

Dwarves just seem to be resistant to actually hauling stone for some reason, I have set up stockpiles in the past that had the same problem. No way around it as far as I can tell apart from setting up a dump zone in the stockpile and dumping all the stone...

you could just put more wheelbarrows in the stockpile, I think the dwarves will move stone more readily if they have tools for it (wheelbarrows or minecarts)

Sounds like a bug.
Sometimes items seem to have been scheduled.

Maybe you can try this trick:

1) d-b-f all the ores you want to haul.
2) Let the game run a few frames.
3) Pause. (space)
4) d-b-c all the ores you forbided before.
5) Unpause.

Hi all

If there are any wheelbarrows assigned to a stockpile, dwarfs will only use that for hauling to the pile and will no longer haul by hand. Either remove the wheelbarrow ("q"uery the stockpile, "w" increments wheelbarrow assignments, wraps around to zero after 3) so the beards start dragging stuff around manually again (very slow and often tremendously inefficient if hauling distances are long) or increase the number of assigned wheelbarrows (max three, but you can just make extra stockpiles if that's not enough). You might need to make extra wheelbarrows if you don't have enough, e.g. wooden ones at the carpenter's shp.
