The small continent of Cathsur has been at peace for decades, ever since the last world war. Ignored by outside governments, the continent is united under the Republic of Cathsur, and has prospered in recent times.

That has changed.

A nationalist rebel group, Free Olvur, has risen in the north, away from the capital of Cathsur, and has been gathering strength, ambushing military patrols and training recruits. Olvurin forces are staging outside of the large city of Callaron, the 4th largest city in Cathsur, and Cathsuran Army units have quickly been mobilized. There will be bloodshed.

We stand at a crossroads. If the Cathsuran Army can crush the assault on Callaron, the Olvurin forces will be forced back into the north, and it will take years for them to organize another major assault. If the Olvurins win, though, the city will provide a large powerbase for the rebel scum, giving them momentum to march further south.

The main characters of this story are not generals, or heroes. They are the men and women of Cathsur, rebels and soldiers, fighting and dying in the streets of Callaron. The fighting that takes place in this civil war is swift, and brutal. It is not glorified, but merely retold.

The Cause is, quite simply, why your character joined the Cathsuran Army or Free Olvur. There are four causes to choose from.

Belief: A fervent belief that you are fighting for right. In both cases, this is mostly nationalist fervor.

Glorification: You joined, hoping you would become a hero in Glorious Battle. Soon, you'll be proven wrong.

Revenge: The enemy took something away from you, and you will make them pay for it.

Pressure: You didn't join because you wanted to, but because you have to. You needed the money, and neither side is particularly picky about who they take.

I'll be taking ten players total to start, five on each side. Once I have five characters on each side, I'll assign positions, and then we'll start. If we don't get that many, I'll fill in the open spots with NPCs.

Name: Hawthorn James
Physical Description: A big burly man his body is crossed by many burn scars. He has deep tortured eyes that are sunk deep in his face. He has a full beard that goes down to his waste.
Personality: He cares deeply for his loved ones and will stop at nothing to protect them. He refuse to help people who he views as stupid or ignorant.
Biography: He lived in a small mountain town his entire life, he worked as a lumber jack.
Cause: The cursed rebels came and killed his daughter and his wife.

Name: Jonathan Cross
Physical Description: A tall, young-looking, black-haired man. His face is emotionless most of the time.
Personality: With everything he cared about gone, he no longer feels like he has to care about the well-being of others. Sure, he'll help out his allies, but don't count on him to bail you out if it means risking his own life.
Biography: He and his sister were orphaned at a young age and have struggled to live ever since. Just as life has begun being easier, the rebels came and his sister sacrificed herself to protect him. Having witnessed all the destruction and suffering they have wrought, along with killing the only person he really cared about, he has sworn to himself that he will slaughter the rebels.

Name:Lily Coleman
Physical Description: A small, lithe woman with a pixie cut of platinum blonde hair framing her face. Her face constantly expresses her emotions.
Personality: Lily has always been fighting for something. Her mother tells a story of when she was a little girl, and she took up the cause for orphaned animals, filling the house with cats and dogs, and if she could find an injured bird or two the more the merrier. After that phase it was the goths, and other social fringe groups, arguing for their acceptance. The causes didn't all last long, but she was genuinely and completely committed to each one for their duration.
Biography: Lily had been in her final year of college, completing a triple major in Poli. Sci., Philosophy, and Anthropology. Her education had been a constant stream of different arguments to support marginalized groups, and so it was natural to do her senior thesis on a current political event which related to an oppressed group. She found just such a group in the Olvurins. And by the end of a paper which combined Sartres radical freedom with a number of political and social frameworks to address inequality and oppression, she had herself, and some of her professors, convinced that the only human thing to do was fight alongside the Olvurins. Unlike most, though, she took this quite literally, and so the fight for freedom began.

Name: Alan Farrow
Physical Description: A fit, healthy, average Cathsuran man. Tends to look bored when he isn't shooting at something.
Personality: Mean-spirited, self-conscious, prideful. Slightly cowardly.
Biography: A career soldier from a military family, soldiering has practically been bred into his genes - not that he's a particularly good soldier. In fact, he flunked out of officer training, disappointing his father, a retired Colonel, greatly. He doesn't like to talk about that much. He's been hoping to earn a promotion to non-commissioned officer, ever since the Olvurin uprising began. (He's not particularly smart, either.) A native of Callaron, Alan has no desire to see his home destroyed by those damn dirty Olvurins. (Also he's a racist douchebag.)
