Virus I can't remove

I have this virus on my computer.

You probably heard of it, it seems pretty famous. It's called the NSA virus scam. It's a ransom ware, and what it does (or tries to do) is false accuse me of some illegal crime, and then locks my browser, or even computer altogether, requesting I pay anywhere between 300$ to 500$ using Moneypac.

My computer is working fine right now, but I know it's still lurking in the system, I don't want it to cause anymore viruses.

Anyway, stop going to shady sites and run MBAM.

I already did, nothing came up.

I virus wouldn't just leave, would it? Am I insane?

There's no reason to believe there's anything in your system (well, except for half a dozen botnet and NSA rootkits if you believe some people) if MBAM doesn't pick it up. These things aren't very complicated and don't have much reason to remain in the system of somebody who won't pay anyway.

So....it's gone, and I'm just paranoid? Sounds about right.

It actually probably came from one of the fifty prank call websites I visited. Don't ask.

Crisis averted.
