Notible kill?
« on: December 01, 2014, 08:29:18 pm »

Usually only those historical figures appear in the notible kill list.

But my guard captain's only notable kill was a one humped camel.
He has 8 others kills, include trolls, dingos, coyotes, camels, honey badgers and goblins.

Any idea why this camel was notible at all?

Edit*

I notice almost all my military dorfs 3 dorfs have a one humped camel in their notible kill list.

If any creature kills another creature or creates a masterwork of any type, they become historical. This includes wild animals, so that camel definitely killed something at some point- since animals can't make masterworks.

I'm curious what/who did they kill.

Write the name down and look up in legends. Retire your fort through save-scumming or something. Alas, legends don't have hyperlinks, so you'll have to use search.

Cool, but wouldn't this likely lead to tongues having a '[SPEACH]' tag, and thus via necromancy we would have nearly unkillable reanimated tongues following necromancers spamming 'it is sad but not unexpected'?

They don't have names so I can't search.

I dumped the files and used the Legends Viewer tool to find the camel.

Looks like it is a normal enough camel:

So this is a member of the human civilization The Empire of Stars. Interesting.

One of my dwarves' kill list had several nameless animals which belonged to the elves, so I think that animals which belong to a civ also go into the notable kill list.

The best way to demonstrate it to him is take a save of 40 year old fortress with 150 dwarves in it on a good sized embark with a volcano that just breached the circus and install it on his gaming rig and watch it bring his rig to its knees.

animals that make dwarf friends become historical figures as well and are listed in legends mode. so if you are breeding an untameable species you will have hundreds of entries of acquaintances, bonded animals or those with grudges against your animal trainer. animals even start to worship gods (according to legends).
