Anyone up for a play by post rpg? (picking the game)
« on: November 24, 2014, 03:11:30 am »

So, i'm looking for a game to run online, play by post style being best for all schedules usually. I'm looking to GM a game, but the question is what?
So far, i'm looking at trying a game from the 'powered by the apocalypse' system, either dungeon world or apocalypse world likely, or the palladium system, either heroes unlimited, rifts, or dead reign.
Or just pathfinder, wanna run skulls and shackles for that for a while now, or a scifi game. traveller or Starwars?

I'm open to ideas from you guys too, if you have any, but i'm not the bestest dm though..

Also would have to cap the players, looking for 4-5 players to keep things easy, maybe 6 if i think i can handle it. Oh, and if this is in the wrong place, or not welcome here, please let me know! this area of the fourms is new to me, i normally frequent other games and mods for DF
EDIT: was jsut reminded paranoia exists. could do that too!

This is a good spot for it. I personally prefer Dungeons and Dragons because I own the books. But that's just me.

I have the All Flesh Must Be Eaten books, the first and only RP books I have in my short RP career. Had dice but lost them, so anyone with a standard set of dice could do the rolls. I do like the idea of Paranoia.

I personally always use virtual dice, like these. Lot easier to keep track of things, and I am online anyway.

They don't have sessions (so your players have to take your word for what they rolled) or open ended dice. And you have to make your own success dice (roll X individual dY dice against a target number of Z to get enough "successes". Y'know, like Shadowrun?) out of a Full Roll.

I tried to play chess but two of my opponents were playing competitive checkers as a third person walked in with Game of Thrones in hand confused cause they thought this was the book club.

I never said it was perfect, I just said it was what I used. If player's cant trust the GM, then they either shouldn't be playing with him or it is probably part of the game. I usually just use the quick rolls, it is fine for D20, D6, and D100. If you are using anything odd, you can use the full roll. And the full rolls can be saved, if you are playing a game like Shadowrun often you can use the same sets of full rolls.

There's no special dice, it's d10 oriented, with mild appearances from the other dice. Plus, there's rules to play it with poker cards, if we want that route :)

Did someone say Paranoia?

Paranoia games on this forum are cursed.
