Cancel "store item" job, how do I?

This may sound a bit stupid, but the cancel option in j menu is greyed out.
How do I tell certain Urist McSuicide to leave that item alone without fobiding them? As far as I know you can't see job items in j menu, just stockpiles.

Do you know what item he is seeking?

If so, forbid the item, and or-- block, lock down, or otherwise render the item unpathable.

Yeah, I know. But sometimes it isn't easy to tell which item, especially when there are more than one.
For example, I want to open an restricted area to do something, but I don't want all of them to rush in.

Paint forbidden over the target area. All items in the target area will be forbidden.

Yeah, sounds like a solution. Maybe I can forbide the whole cavern areas.

You could also set burrows, which would let you manage who is allowed into the forbidden area in the first place.
