Essentially as the title says. I've been looking for more games, ideally RPG, adventures, or other kind of game where you act as a single character, where your actions can eventually get your enemies terrified of you, and the narrative and gameplay actually reflects on it. Only real restriction is for it to be on the PC (if the game is truly awesome, GBA, DS or older consoles are also acceptable, but not preferred)

That is, giving some examples: Fallout New Vegas, other than a few moments such as the use of the "Terrifying Presence" perk and the crippled powder ganger, don't actually quite count. Even as you lay waste all by yourself to entire Legion/NCR/Tribals/Gangs Camps/Forts/Whatsoever, your enemies never show that delicious primal fear, that desperation when facing certain death.

On the other, Metroid Prime does, specially when she's facing the Space Pirates. They might put a fight, but you can taste their desperation, specially if you see their logs. You are as an apocalypse unto them and they know it. Another good example would be Dishonored, specially after Corvo makes even more of a name for himself. The chatter and paranoia of your foes is simply delicious. Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhall (but not Shadows of Amn) qualify somewhat, as, even if the gameplay itself doesn't quite reflect it, the narrative does. Many enemies are terrified of you, even as they themselves stand far and above most of the rest of the world.

Halo 2 and 3, from what I understand, also qualify, with Master Chief being getting downright mythical status among the Covenant forces, the "Demon". Darksiders might also qualify from what I heard, but I've yet to play it, so do tell me if it actually does. Prototype does qualify heartily though, even as they stand and fight, you can see their paranoia and taste their desperation.

Hell, Medieval Total War 2 would qualify with it's "Dread" mechanics if it wasn't a strategy game where you controlled armies instead of a character.

So, any more games like that? I starve for the fear of my enemies. I want to feel, smell and taste their fear, their despair. I want to hear their anguished cries and their whispered prayers. I want to be dreaded, the boogeyman that torments their nights, the demon that stand against all they cherish. I want for them to feel hopelessness as they hear I am coming or to stand alert for never knowing if I'm there or not until it's too late.

So, creepy desires aside, any games like that? Other than the ones I commented upon, of course, because I know of them already. :P Well, do confirm about it in Darksiders if you know about it, but I want more games like that. Suggestions?

I would say Fable as citizens would cower from you but bandits still try to jump you. Honestly it could probably modded into say Skyrim though that would be alot of work.

Overlord sounds like it would fit your boat! Look up a review or a gameplay video or something :)

There is one point in the new Tomb Raider game when enemies start shitting themselves when Lara gets a grenade launcher.  It was pretty funny.

A bit too... silly or cartoonesque would probably be the best words. I want that primal terror, not merely see an animated figure shaking a bit. :P

I feel like Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines applies here in at least a couple places.

"Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines" can fit. The average humans flee if you start getting crazy in front of them, though a lot of the game you're working for much more powerful vampires and being obvious about your state is rather against the game. Still yes.

I would suggest "Prototype". Specifically the first one. You play as Alex Mercer, a guy infected with a super power virus who can run up buildings, throw cars, summon spikes and so on. You gain health by absorbing people, and one ability used for stealth involves absorbing someone and turning into them. This is a game where you can karate kick a helicopter, or divebomb a tank. Guards become quite paranoid because you're a being who can physically look like anyone and perfectly mimic their actions.

"Batman: Arkham Asylum" and "Arkham City" are good too. As you clear an enemy, the remaining mooks become more and more terrified, shooting at sudden noises and yelling to show yourself.

"Alien vs Predator 2" or the more recent "Alien vs Predator (3)". Playing as a Predator hunting humans and xenomorphs, or a xenomorph creeping along the roof to drop down behind an enemy.

As for "Darksiders". Hm... you don't really fight humans, more demons and undead, and they're pretty fearless. They're good games, pitting you against some really huge bosses. I found it's quite similar to the Legend of Zelda series in structure, especially Darksiders 1

This. You terrify guards so badly that they open fire on any noise they here while whimpering and screaming. You can set things up so that they even shoot each other or jump off ledges to their doom :D

Iji might be a minor example. The enemy logbooks change based on your kill count. It's actually funny early on in a no-kill game where one logbook questions if your plan is to disarm them by stealing all their ammo and not using it.

Batman: Arkham City predator segments can quite easily result in the thugs getting outright soiling their trousers if you do a decent job. Their status is even set to 'terrified' when you scan them in Detective Mode. They're the stealth portion of the game, and usually end in one or two remaining bad guys shaking and shivering (while the rest are splayed across the ground or hanging from high rises unconscious) as they try to find out where you are, wailing about how they're boned and opening fire wildly when they see the slightest movement in the shadows. When you inevitably drop down in front of them to knock them out, they'll usually fall to the ground, drop their gun, and cower. Because you're the goddamn Batman.

Of course, in the fighting portions, they'll fearlessly try to take you down to the last man, so it probably won't fit your criteria.

EDIT: Oh wow, I didn't even see Mech mention it. Still, it's a good enough game to be worth mentioning twice.

Wow, Iji does that?! I knew it was a great game, but never had an idea...

Also, I see AvP 2 & 3 mentioned, but I'd also suggest the good old classic AvP 1. While I don't remember soldiers ever running away when playing as Xenomorph, civilians most certainly do and in most glorious fashion, screaming frantically, crying and covering themselves when you finally corner them. Even soldiers scream in terror when you charge them. And despite graphics being old and relatively simple, there is something akin to terror recognizable in the facial expressions marines make.

This doesn't really fit this, but does anyone remember Soul Reaver? The first humans you meet are scared of you and attack you. If you ignore them, the remaining humans will treat you like an avenging angel of death. But if you hurt them, they distrust you and start trying to take you down.
