"The Empire's faith seems important to them, so that would be an obvious line of questioning, though I am not entirely sure how best to word the questions."
"We need their history with the Kaa. How tensions escalated to now--any sort of information that could help us understand the Kaa. We may go into open warfare with them, but the lack of knowing our enemy, or our perceived enemy anyway, would leave us all with inefficiency: no matter where we hail from in Sol."

Seems like it would just clutter up the thread, but it's not my descision, I suppose.

(Some random staff? I'm not quite sure what you mean.)

((I could just in general possess random NPC's to add flavor. Like one of those colonists for example.))

To the Empire: "We would like some clarification on what constitutes 'metallurgy'. We are considering selling you our armor technology and superconducting material technology. On a related note, some of the other human factions are leery of aligning with a race we know so little about, especially given that our first contact with an alien race was with the Kaa. We would like to know more about what you find so distasteful about the Kaa and more in general about your religion."

Empire

Iron is a holy metal, the heart of Creation and hand-picked by the Creator himself. When He created the Universe, iron was the only metal, and the only element to be selected as His. That our home planet has a Lunar cycle of 26 days, and takes exactly 26 months to revolve once around our Sun; that the nations and states that first discovered the sacred techniques of working iron were the first to rise to power; and that iron is the most abundant metal in the rocky interiors of our planets prove how important He thought iron to be. Likewise, steel drove another revolution in the state of affairs.

Every ship, our space ones as well as past Earth-bound ones has a heart of pure iron which safeguards us from the dangers of the void, gaining the favor of the Creator. While some orthodox fanatics believe the sacred texts order that ships must be constructed from solely iron and steel, they were convinced that the holiest metals were not fit for the task--indeed, to expose iron to the void and let it decompose from cosmic rays would be heresy! Still, any technologies that will allow iron to be more widely used would be very well accepted.

The Kaa... they are the worst sort of heretic. Unlike you, who are merely uninformed and not actively blasphemous, the Kaa intentionally insult the One Truth and insinuate that iron is a lesser metal compared to their's! Additionally, they intrude upon our sovereign space and take our worlds and systems as they please, saying that lesser race has no ownership if it can simply be taken. We have heard that the Kaa are like this with every space-faring alien race they meet, as they are the best in this part of the galaxy. Though, we are sometimes curious why they do not simply make a hundred of their fighters and steamroll us...

Pelsk of Cruarea
Pelsk Golf/Prime is renamed to Odin.
A Colonizer Beta is constructed for 100 credits and sent to Pelsk Bravo/Vili. It colonizes the planet again and gives Pelsk and Amelia an additional 11 credits each turn. Another Beta is sent to Pelsk Golf/Odin, giving Pelsk 22 more credits a turn.

Superconductors and SSS is researched, for 40 credits each. Satellites are finished, allowing a 10 credit tier 0 satellite to be placed in any system (which takes no control). Additionally, scouts have stronger sensor suites.

Hercules #12 arrives at Sol and unloads two alien scout wrecks for 0.8 research credits.

Scout M2b #13 arrives at Sol.

Scout M2b #14 arrives at SummerSentDried. It is a system with one colonizeable planet. There are many alien trails here. What looks very similar to the structure in PercentOffAcres is here, too, except it looks rather burnt-out and mangled. There are around three Kaa ships in the system, two Interceptors and a Scout, but they make no move to intercept the Scout.

The Alien Capital Transport and escorts enter the Pelsk Charlie system and start crossing it, when suddenly a large explosion blows a hole in the side of the Capital Transport. A few futuristic containers float out into space. The Kaa ship transmits angrily--"You have dared to attack us. Perhaps some reminder of just how primitive you are is in order."

The interceptors fan out and start shooting down any transport vehicles, blockading the system.

With an income of 263 and expense of 280, Pelsk has a net loss of 17 credits.

Starmap

Spoiler: Star systems (click to show/hide)
Actions:
Scan Pelsk Hotel (SummerSentDried). Inspect ships.
Research Superconductors.
Research Improved Missiles.
Research Christmas Parties.
Research Vacations.

To the Kaa:
"If we were going to attack you, don't you think we'd need ships to do it with? There weren't any ships near you except for a Scout guy. Let's be real. I might be dumb, but I'm not that dumb, amirite? I'm sure a quick check on the weapon materials used will prove me right."
