Add reading skill with cheat?
« on: October 13, 2014, 04:00:16 am »

Hell!

Is there a way to cheat reading skill? I forgot to add it during character creation.

Thanks

Add a reaction that uses the reading skill. It must create something. Since you can't add reactions to an already generated world I recommend replacing the knapping reaction. Then use it to grind for reader.

Sure. Yes, you are the Silver Surfer to a very inept Galactus.

There are some cheats posted here. Ive used them in the arena to test out stuff and they seem to work.

Think there is a description in there somewhere how to use it.

If you still dont understand just copy paste the lua codes under the version you are playing and put each one in a separate notepad file in the lua folder in the hacks folder. Then just rename the file extensions to .lua instead. To use the codes in adventure mode you need to open your character screen and then type them in the dfhack console. There is a list of skill tokens in the dwarf fortress wiki for specific skills.

Cheating makes the game really boring though... the only one I sometimes use is butchering because getting food is boring.

There should really be a way to learn/train Reading ingame.

It's annoying when you forget to add a simple skill level on Reader at character creation and after playing for a few days with your adventurer, you suddenly realize that you forgot it, and so will miss several features of Adventure mode you could be interested into.

Swimming is another one of those skills you probably dont want to forget. Getting killed by super weak fish just because you cant swim is just stupid.

You can train that, however. It's much safer in DF2014 if you climb out of the water instead of trying to swim out.

Reading his name would trigger it. Thinking of him would trigger it. No other circumstances would trigger it- it was strictly related to the concept of Bill Clinton entering the conscious mind.
