help nerve damage ability to grasp
« on: October 09, 2014, 05:04:03 pm »

Hello!

My problem is that my adventurer has some nerve damage in his left hand and can't grasp. Thankfully I have found out how to train knapper and thrower with one hand, and now to vield both shield and whip. But I want to cheat back the right hand, because climbing is a hassle this way.

1. Is there any way to do this?

Also a severed artery on my left leg doesn't heal too, and I bleed to death if not traveling for too long.

2. Why is this?

Thanks for any answer.

1. A non-cheaty way to do this would be to get bitten by a werebeast, same for the torn artery (though fast travel should fix that).

As for cheaty way, you could use DFhacks full-heal or if you don't want to use DFhack, add the [HEAL_RATE:100] token to nerves.

2. Not sure why, missing a heal rate token?

So dfhack has full heal? Never noticed it. Maybe I keep the injuries tó make him more cool. But it's tempting, I like the new climbing.

I'm not sure that would work. In .34, nerves were not made of nervous tissue, but hidden throughout the body and noted as 'severed' if the part containing them took the right sort of damage. I don't think Toady did anything to the structure of creatures between .34 and .40.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

I can't find the thread here or on the reddit.com/r/dwarffortress, but I'm pretty sure I read about a recent bug with bleeding. It's a quick fix with a few small changes to your raws, which I also don't remember exactly, but basically everyone has hemophilia currently.
