« on: May 11, 2008, 07:17:00 pm »

i have a water wheel powering a water pump. can i run an axel from the pump to another pump and have it work? or will i need to split up the power between the wheel and the pump?

the pumps carry power, so you don't have to go back to the wheel each time.

I know you can run an axel from the gear assembly powering the pump.  From the pump itself, I'm not so sure, never tried it.

Power transfers through pumps.  If you set two pumps next to each other, you only need to power one and both will get power.  You can even stack pumps on top of each other and they will work (for creating a water elevator, see wiki: http://dwarf.lendemaindeveille.com/index.php/Screw_pump)

Stacking does require a channel through the upper floor.  The wiki has info on various ways of setting up stacked pumps.  It took me a bit of experimenting to figure what I was doing with them even with the wiki's help though.

If you're gonna post a link, make sure it's the right one.
