I've smelted hematite to get iron.
I've got marble (flux).
Producing charcoal at a wood furnace.
Never get the option for pig iron.

No burrows at all.  All stockpiles linked to each smelter and forge.  Obviously I'm doing something wrong...

Obvious questions first: All this stuff is accessible and unforbidden? The materials are physically present in the stockpile(s) you're linking from (and not being hauled around in bins, for example)?

No bins, I disable them in every stockpile.  Yes, there is the items in the quantum pile (dumping from the stockpile to a 1x1 quantum square via minecart.  They are all on the same floor with piles either in the same room or just across the hall.

Again, no burrows so no limited movement.  I'm thinking I'm missing a piece of the puzzle to make the items...but not sure.

My first guess is that it's a linkage problem. Try disabling the links and see if that makes a difference.

Delete all the links and see if that resolves the issue.  If yes, then something is not in a stockpile.

If no then it is likely an item is set to dump/forbidden, check your stock list in the status screen.

Try making a job in the manager to smelt pig iron. When it fails, see what the reason is for a clue.
