enemy ai/personality
« on: May 20, 2002, 04:55:00 pm »

I just had a fun thought,
I cant wait til we have some enemy ai and personality
we coudl create a race of people who hate everyone
and right from the beginning run around and slaughter each other..
so when you meet them
there is like 1-2 people in each town
and they would be very skilled.. as the would be the only people left
hehe
of course
when FOOD comes around.. this wouldnt work so well

hehe
you REALLY think that behemoth slaughter beasts get along?

Of course, the personality of a species would have to be random.. in one universe, the Behemoth Slaughter Beasts act as you'd expect creatures with such a name to behave, but in another the name is an incorrect transliteration of behtmot slotra-bis, a local term meaning 'small, timid herbivore'.  :p

Also, there'd have to be variations in the individuals of the species. This could vary depending on the world's motif. In high fantasy, races tend to be very highly typecast (dwarves are excellent miners and gruff, elves are wise and ludicrously tall, orcs are complete gits, etc))

I stand against the creation of mentally disabled monsters.  The generation of towns and kingdoms should take into account the personality of the individuals that make then up.  Monsters too dumb to fend for themselves should not be able to form huge empires.  Even with the help of an intelligent overlord, pychotic, retarded, and confused monsters will die out.

Someone mentioned game restrictions coming into play.  Because everyone seems to want silly-ass universes with no rules, I don't think unecessary restrictions will be added.  But trust me, these universes will not be fun to play.  Good for a few laughs.  But not fun.

I will know make a plea that at least some consistant logic will tie all universes together:

1)If only one person can cast every spell effect in existence, that person is ARMOK.

2)If only a few people in the universe can do it, they are gods.

3)If everyone in the universe can do it, the unvirse will explode.
