I love Exanima and I can't wait for Sui Generis. I just hope they can craft a world that's as convincing and fun as the combat.

Dunno how many people do this, but while swinging you can crouch down and hit someone in the legs, under their shield. Timed correctly, it's pretty difficult to block.

You do have to be careful with that trick, as it increases the chances that your enemy will smack you in the head.

Ive had this go both ways for me lol. The best I've ever had with it is a swing (from a great sword) cut under the opposing shield and have the back swing come up and bisect his face. Classic.
