Exactly what it says on the tin.

Tried googling. Didn't come up with much more than, "press the buttons when it goes to sleep cause it's an energy saving feature."

I'm actually beginning to miss the old corded mice. Is there any way to make this thing more reliable? Can a "sleep" or whatever setting be adjusted (assuming that's even the problem)? Any ideas would be rather appreciated. Thank you very much.

I'd suggest checking the battery, but if it's brand new that shouldn't be the problem. Unless it didn't come with a battery, and you put an old one in?

Corded mouses should still be sold by most shops. If fancy computer shops don't have them, then Wal-mart (that's the generic American supermarket, right?) should, probably for like $5.

May I recommend the Microsoft Comfort Mouse 6000. It's a fantastic corded mouse, sold many many places. It's the successor to the Intellimouse Explorer 3.0, which was also fantastic.

Wireless mice are just a bad idea for a desktop. If you are gaming, you want as low latency as possible (for every part of your pc), and wireless transmission is not the way to get that.
