Are raws displayed somewhere on wiki?
« on: September 08, 2014, 02:10:08 am »

I'm traveling and want to read certain files, but there is no suitable device to download df. I can browse webpage though. I wonder if they are anywhere online? (So far, I can only find creature raws)

Most pages with a raw file associated, e.g. steel, have an entry for raws at the bottom. It's in a hidden box, though, so you need to click on the "RAWS" button thingy to see them.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Thanks, I didn't notice that materials also have their raw attached. But I still  cannot find raws for workshops...

Most workshops dont have raws.

The Soap Maker's Workshop and Screw Press are in the raws, but their raws are not on the wiki.

Those raw boxes are made by a bot, and I suppose the bot doesn't look in building_custom.txt for some reason.

BTW, those buildings are in the raws specifically to serve as examples to modders.

Here is a list of the hardcoded buildings' names for modding purposes: http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2014:Reaction#Building

Yeah it's one of the most annoying things about the raws.

However, to be fair, in order to put all the buildings in the raws, it's not just a copy/paste. Toady would have to add quite a lot of new tags to make them work. Things like masons don't work the same as soapmakers. They have more automated hardcode-type stuff that would have to be transformed into a customizable version.  And the loom for instance would need some sort of auto gather tag whats-it, etc.

Dwarf fortress in 50 words: You start with seven alcoholic, manic-depressive dwarves. You build a fortress in the wilderness where EVERYTHING tries to kill you, including your own dwarves. Usually, your chief imports are immigrants, beer, and optimism. Your chief exports are misery, limestone violins, forest fires, elf tallow soap, and carved kitten bone.

i just wanted to add carving knife to masonshop, boning knife to fishery, etc, and most importantly, make their tiles look less "abstract". :)

The first two are possible by making a reaction and assigning it to the appropriate workshops.

Changing the display tiles is not possible as far as I know.

I remember hardcoded workshops being discussed in the TWBT thread, so they can probably be overriden, though at the cost of involving DFHack, a big multi-function binary plugin, and a configuration file outside the raw folder.

That would be AWESOME.

Really, auto queuing job based on existing materials (like hide tanning or fat rendering) would be game-changer. Autobrewing with only modding and no outside tools?

[AUTOMATIC] is already a token that does exactly what you just said. Hide tanning and fat rendering are in fact two jobs that happen to be in the raws that both use that token.

Code: [Select]
[REACTION:TAN_A_HIDE]
[NAME:tan a hide]
[BUILDING:TANNER:CUSTOM_T]
[REAGENT:A:1:NONE:NONE:NONE:NONE][USE_BODY_COMPONENT][UNROTTEN]
[HAS_MATERIAL_REACTION_PRODUCT:TAN_MAT]

In the product, if you want to use the reagent's material itself, use NONE instead of a reaction product class (TAN_MAT in this example).

[PRODUCT:100:1:SKIN_TANNED:NONE:GET_MATERIAL_FROM_REAGENT:A:TAN_MAT]
[SKILL:TANNER]
[AUTOMATIC]

[REACTION:RENDER_FAT]
[NAME:render fat]
[BUILDING:KITCHEN:CUSTOM_R]
[REAGENT:A:150:GLOB:NONE:NONE:NONE][REACTION_CLASS:FAT][UNROTTEN]
[HAS_MATERIAL_REACTION_PRODUCT:RENDER_MAT]
[PRODUCT:100:1:GLOB:NONE:GET_MATERIAL_FROM_REAGENT:A:RENDER_MAT]
[SKILL:COOK]
[AUTOMATIC]

Main problem there is that it's all-consuming and you can't turn it off.

It's on the wishlist of what he wants to add. It's not added yet, not for hardcoded buildings at least. Well some parts of them may be editable but the entire structure of them isn't..
