I was digging for gold and gems, when suddenly I noticed I had 37 idle dwarves, and lots of combat reports. I check out what the combat reports are, and, apparently, almost all my dwarves are in a cavern! I blocked it off using fortifications with walls behind them, so no one has the possibility of climbing in, and no stray fireballs would get through. But... The walls were gone. I never assigned them for deconstruction, anything, actually. Nothing should've been deconstructed, but it appears they just disappeared, and my populace hopped over the edge. Luckfully my master work or exceptionally iron armed dwarves hopped down to save them, but now everyone but a few growers are stuck in the cavern... How did this happen?

I've had a couple dwarves somehow get into a sealed cavern. Trying to send my military to the spot reported 'path not available'. I found a down stair that opened above an underground tree, so maybe they climbed down that way. But I swear one time I witnessed a forgotten beast teleport into my fortress so I'm not sure what's going on exactly.

I think I see a tree like you're talking about. The walls also disappeared because of a relatively small cave in. I'm going to try and get my dwarves out with a miner. My remaining surface soldiers, 7 of them, are busy with a goblin and elf siege.
