Doesn't look anything like Stomping Land, tbh. It looks like an imitation of Rust, except with dinosaurs instead of zombies. At least the dinos in TSL have a greater purpose than simply bullet fodder.

I once shot a bear in the eye with a bow on the first shot, cut it up, found another one, and shot it in the eye too. The collective pile of meat weighed more than my house.

I think I got the thread confused, I thought I was necroing a discussion of Stomping Land, now that it is out, not trying to jump into a discussion about Beast of Prey.

Has anyone played Stomping Land: is it terrible?

TLDR: Game has made little forward progress since release, communication has steadily fallen off and now....the devs have announced the game is moving to UE4. So if you own this game and hoping for content updates, or you were waiting for content updates before buying it.....keep waiting. Because it's probably going to be a while before the game starts moving forward. Right now it's practically moving backward.

And this is why early access is bad. Unbelievable of the devs to act like this.

That last gobbo would stand there, missing an arm, punctured in a kidney, liver, and spleen, fading in and out of consciousness at the far end of where the drawbridge would go, and his last sight would be the drawbridge dropping down and smashing him like a bug.

God DAMN I love this game!

I kind of hate Kickstarter.  This has happened so many times it's just soured completely for me.  Early access and greenlight too.  Sick of seeing a cool-sounding game on Steam and finding out it's barely alpha and will be released "i dunno."

There's a tag line for you.

The only kickstarters I try and back are ones that seem like they are far along, have well known or highly experienced staff, or a huge pool of contributers

Do not purchase until full release. Even then get it on sale.

The crafting system they have in the works is better than the existing one of hauling boxes from location to location. There is zero customization options currently. Cooperation is very difficult due to communication difficulties. The most you will get out of this is being bola-ed then dragged through the sand to someones cage to sit there till you hop servers. Net code needs work ect.

Its wrong to say kickstarter has ruined earlier access gaming, but its fully correct to say that it has ruined hype for gaming. I remember when you could get excited for something and it would actually deliver rather than run off with 5x the stated amount the game costs and do jack for months on end.

I don't care that the vacuum people are promising a blowjob machine in the future. I'll buy it then if they ever deliver.

So it goes from bad, to worse. Or better, depending on your perspective.

The Stomping Land has been pulled for sale from Steam. It's page still exists, but you can't buy it. There's no indication whether this was a Steam or developer decision, but either way The Stomping Land couldn't manage to justify it's EA existence.

Blah. I guess this is the last time I back someone this early in development. I was blinded by the dinosaurs.
