Aquifer question
« on: August 23, 2014, 06:51:33 pm »

This is my first time trying to breach an aquifer. I tried to use the double slit method as shown in this video but I am unable to construct the very last wall of the cross. Anyone have a suggestion what might be the problem ? Or is this technique no longer possible ?
I am trying to build that last wall on the up down stairs to the level above where the pump is going.

In despair I tried the freeze method and managed to encase my miners in ice. Live and learn  :D

2 slit method is indeed still viable, I've used it twice in 0.40.09 so far.

The guy in the video jumps around the floors quite a bit so it's not terribly clear what he's doing at times, and I'm not really sure where you're stuck given your description.  I prefer to use the walkthrough on the wiki, as, for me, I find it much clearer:

If you could either toss up a link to your save, or show some pictures, I could walk you through the rest of your aquifer penetration.

Thank you for your offer. I've already abandoned as the fortress was doomed. I'll just try again and see if I can find where I went wrong.
