1 square wide warm rocks
« on: August 19, 2014, 05:15:47 pm »

Ive encountered 2 floors of warm rocks beside a volcano. I was wondering if they would cause harm to the fortress if I digged into them, but I dont know if theyre above or below me.

Just dig it anyway.

Put a door a little further along the tunnel to stop the magma if needed.

Ive found a third floor above the magma foundry(what I call a multitude of magma forges and smelters) with warm rock in the SAME pattern as the two levels below.

Yup, there was nothing there. Wonder what causes the 1 square wide warm rocks anyway?

Intelligent is a strong word to use around DF.
you're lucky it wasn't an adventurer.  I've heard they can bash your skull in by throwing water at you.  UNDERWATER

It's probably the same bug from older versions.  You're supposed to get 1 layer of warm rock around magma, and damp rock around water; it's your warning that you're about to encounter some FUN.  Using reveal in both .34 and .31 I could see strands of warm rock that had no relation to nearby magma, and it's my guess reveal would show the same with .40.
