Dogs run at mach speeds
« on: August 17, 2014, 09:19:00 am »

So Im making a fortress. I see elephants.

Im like, oh god is this gonna be another boatmurdered minus the 16 other people

I see theyre docile. Until a dog attacks one. They still run away somehow.

I mining my fortress out until I see a blue blur across the screen. What the heck was that?

I watch my meeting place, the elephants are nearby.

It was a dog running really really damn fast.

I see this with frightened creatures occassionally. Now that creatures have different gaits, my guess would be that they are sprinting away from whatever spooked them. If you ever play adventure mode, you'll see this a lot with nonhostiles that you have resolved to brutally murder. Working as intended, I think.

Guerilla Burialgears absently tucks the child's rock into his pack and turns to leave for good; his head hung low. His words trail behind him as he disappears over the ridge. It is a haunting whisper, quickly stolen away by the wind: "All burn..."

Are you playing with the FPS limit at 100?
Then it is no surprise lol, at 100 FPS even if your dwarves are casually walking it will look like they are sprinting at top speed because the game is going so fast.
I set my FPS limit to 50 and everything feels a lot more natural.
I still have to see a dog run at top speed though.
