Aaand.. In the next release, Toady saw this post and decided to replicate PTSD in the dwarves. Your fortress will never get over this until he also implements realistic medicine (Which won't happen since it's past the timeframe) or all of the original survivors are gone.

Pfft, most of the survivors have that "doesn't care much about anything" or "is a hardened individual" tag now. Even the kids! Hell, I've got kids with kill counts that include adult dwarves.

Yeah, I was just going to say that this tantrum spiral has probably made your fort a lot more resistant to future tantrum spirals.  So, silver lining to the dead ~160 dwarves.

Haha, funny story about that. Remember that tame war dragon I mentioned? The mayor was in training it when he suddenly went Berzerk and punched it in the face.

Dragons don't like being punched in the face.
