Author Topic: Is it intentional for animals without [CHILD] tags to be un-domesticable?  (Read 653 times)

According to the wiki, only child animals can reach Tame status. Now that Giant Cave Spiders, Dragons, Rocs, etcetera may breed, shouldn't they be able to be fully tamed too? Or is this an intentional mechanic to keep dorfs from owning tame monsters? Seems like if they are able to be trained masterfully then they should be tamable as well.

Well to me it sounds more like a feature if you never truly can tame dragons and Rocs.
For all those more mundane creatures out there that may lack the tag ... not so much.

Helmet snakes also lack the child tag and they aren't exactly fanciful...maybe I'll throw together a bug report about it; I'm going to look through the raws and see just how many creatures lack the child tag.
