This is a Strategy/RPG game parallel to
Lord of War.
If you are playing Lord of War, please, do not look at this Thread or its IC and Bookkeeping Threads. And if you are playing as a Fallen Angel, please do not look into into Lord of War's IC and Bookkeeping Thread.
In this game the characters take the roles of Fallen Angels, the leaders of Samael, the clandestine organization of supernatural beings that helps these beings survive in an age where man rules the world. You can take a look at the info in the Lord of War OOC Thread to know more about the world (and I suggest you look at that Thread first), and here in this thread there is more information about Samael.
There are 13 Fallen Angels, but only 4 players. As such, 9 of the Fallen Angels will be NPCs. There will be a waitlist, though, in case one of the Fallen Angels dies.
Samael was founded shortly after the defeat of Rah. The humans have forgotten, but before the war against Rah, there were 2 more continents called Khalis and Lunaris. These were the homelands of many supernatural beings, and after the continents were apparently destroyed during the final hours of the conflict due to Rah's final spell, they could not go to them.
Contrary to human belief, supernatural beings did not all help Rah. Some beings, specially powerful individuals like the Fire demigod Remiel, allied with Rah, but none of the non human races did. Only the Duk'zarist held an alliance with Rah at the start of the war, and this was because the young Demiurg Ark Noah was being held hostage. In fact, at the end of the war, non human races and many supernatural beings allied with Zhorne Giovanni against Rah. This is why, when Zhorne told them that they had to leave their lands, they were shocked.
Early Imperial Armies, with the help of the recently formed Inquisition, fought a secret war against supernatural beings, pushing them farther and farther into the North Lands. Only after the Battle of Memories, fought in what today is the Principalty of Dwanholf, ended in a tie after millions died in both sides, did the leaders of the supernatural armies realize they would never be able to defeat the Empire in open war. These five generals (Dinah, the Sylvain king Angelus, the dark dragon Legion-Ramses and two unknown D'Anjayni) decided to disperse within the Empire, forming a network of connections, contacts and allies that would help supernatural beings to live safely in this new world of men, far from the eye of the Inquisition, hiding among humanity. The five leaders of the recently created Samael took the title of Fallen Angels, and proceeded with their plan.
More than four centuries after this, Samael has expanded slowly, increasing its influence and, sometimes, helping the Empire against entities that would have destroyed the world. Always hiding, always in secret. Samael's influence is higher in Principalties where Imperial Authorities like the Inquisition have a lot of power. In areas where the Inquisition and similar organizations rarely go, like the jungles of Itzi and Nanwe, the forests of Pristina or the deserts of Salazar, Samael's influence is almost inexistant. If a supernatural being wanted to hide in one of those places, he wouldn't need any help, and as such, Samael wouldn't be needed.
Samael's influence is at its greatests in the city of Khaine, capital of the Principalty of Togarini, and it is here where the Fallen Angels meet when they must take decisions together.
Samael's organization is quite loose. Most of its members are civilians from one of the most common non human races. Sylvain and Duk'zarist are the most common, followed by Daimah, D'Anjayni, Jayan, Ebudan and Vetala. There is only one Deva family within Samael.
Each city with members of Samael in it (which is every major and medium city, and some smaller towns and villages) has an Archon, a member trusted by the Fallen Angels that helps the other members in the city, and who can give orders to them if it is needed for their survival. Archons are usually trusted or retired Agents.
Volunteers that want to work for the Fallen Angels to help Samael (due to a sense of duty, the promise of rewards or any other reason) are Agents. These recieve training (or are already well trained in their field) and work for one of the Fallen Angels. Most supernatural beings that are members of Samael and that are not part of the non human races (spirits, creatures that would be labeled as monsters and many others) are usually Agents, as Samael can make a very good use of their abilities. Within the Agents, D'Anjayni Agents are special. These are called Shadows, and thanks to their racial abilities they are an essential part of the organization.
Above all of the other members of Samael are Fallen Angels, the thirteen leaders of Samael. They are trusted by the other members, and their orders are followed without question most of the time. The thirteen sometimes have conflicting objectives, but most of the time they ask each other before taking the most important decisions. Recently (in the last 50 years) 5 of the Fallen Angels have died, due to the secret war against Baal and the death of old age of some of them. This has broken the balance of power within the Fallen Angels, causing some members to rise to their position.
There is a last group of Samael members. The Supervisors. Supervisors are powerful members, the most trusted agents of the Thirteen. Some of them are creatures that don't actually need the help of Samael in order to survive, but they help Samael because of their friendship with some of its members or just because they feel like it. Supervisors work under the Fallen Angels, but their most important task is to watch over the actions of the Fallen Angels, and make sure none of them does something that endangers the whole organization.
Dinah: The White Queen of Samael, The Lady of Light. These and many others are the names Dinah is known by. Her personal story is unknown, but she is probably the reason behind Samael's existance. It was her that conviced the supernatural beings to hide, and it is her who tries to work for a world where there is no reason for them to hide anymore. Respected and feared, she is extremely powerful. It is said she was so powerful that she split some of her power in her two "Twin Wings", two child like looking entities that are part of her and that enhance her magic powers. She is a master of both Light and Dark magic, using spells some of the most powerful archamages wouldn't dear to try to cast as naturally as humans breath. She is of unknown origins, but many say that she problaby is a half-breed, daughter of Duk'zarist general and a Sylvain princess. Whether that is true (if it is even possible), she has never said, but her lifespan (she is certainly more than 500 years old, but she looks 30) points towards it.
Whisper and Shade: The two D'Anjayni that go by the names of Whisper and Shade are two of the most mysterious Fallen Angels. Some say they are twins, others say they are married. Whatever the truth, they always act together, and their abilities and influence among the Shadows make them two of the most influent Fallen Angels.
Angelus Ul Del Uranus: In ancient times, most of the Sylvain lived under the rule of the Fey Nations, a federation of kingdoms under the rule of the Supreme King of Sylvania. Angelus was the king of one of these kingdoms, in the lost lands of Khalis. He served as a general for Supreme King Taumiel Ul Del Sylvanus, and in the early years after the war he helped supernatural beings, regardless of their origin, survive in the new world of humanity. A great warrior and wizard, Angelus' reputation helped Samael in its early years by ensuring that supernatural beings of many different origins would not fight against each other. Recently, however, after an attack where the Inquisition killed his wife and his only daughter, he has started to talk about overthrowing humanity.
Jingoku no Kami: One of the Kami, the demigods that ruled the island of Varja in ancient times, Jingoku was outcasted from Varja for unknown crimes. Legion-Ramses offered him a position as a Fallen Angel recently, knowing that his power would be benefitial to Samael. He is one of the most radical Fallen Angels, who considers Samael should try to destroy humanity and take its place. He is also an incredibly powerful summoner, but being a spirit, he cannot affect the material world without a summoner acting as his medium.
Legion-Ramses: Legion-Ramses is one of the Dragons of Gaira. Gaira is a powerful entity from outside this world. He and his sister C'iel came to the world in ancient times, and with the help of their servants, Gaira's Shajads and C'iel's Beryls, they took an active part in the development of certain civilizations, specially the Sylvain and Duk'zarist. It was at that time when the seven Shajads and the seven Beryls each chose a dragon whose personal philosophy was similar to theirs, and granted it great powers. Each of the Shajads and Beryls being as powerful as gods, this dragons (Dragons of Gaira and Dragons of C'iel) became close to being demigods. Even if someone killed them, they would be reborn from mortals that shared their personal philosophies. Legion is the Dragon whose powers were granted by Jedah Shajad, the master puppeter, and he has a deep understanding of politics. Last time he was reborn, the chosen mortal was an old Pharaoh from Estigia called Ramses. Legion, intrigued by the Pharaoh's personality, decided to stop the transformation into a dragon, resulting in a strange hybrid of human and dragon over 6 metres tall. He is feared by his power, and he remains as one of the Fallen Angels thanks to all the contacts and allies he made in previous lifes.
The Dark King Dullahan: Dullahan was originally a human. One of the Lhim Shide, the heroes of the old Lillium religion. He, however, was not a hero. He was corrupted by power, and he ruled over the land of what today is Alberia with an iron fist. In the end, his own brother killed him, although Dullahan had foreseen this. Using his dark powers, he transformed himself into an undead, and retired to his dominions in the Wake (a parallel plane of existance related to dreams) of the island of Dafne. When Samael was created, he offered his help by ensuring that many dark creatures would not put Samael into danger due to their nature (by attacking humans and the like). In return, he only wanted to be one of the Fallen Angels, a position from which he would be able to increase his power without a doubt. He has always hated the Empire, but recently he seems even more furious due to one of the Imperial Arbiters having taken the name of Dullahan.
Uttka, the One Horned: Uttka is a Jayan Warlord. Jayans have a difficult time hiding among humans, as they are too tall and their horns are easy to spot, but Uttka's family has always hold a position of power among Samael, as they make sure that Jayans, specially in the New Continent, don't endanger the secret of Samael's existance. Uttka, despite his position, believes that peace with humanity is possible, as shown by how many Jayan tribes trade and travel with human tribes in the New Continent.
Aohime Inukai: Aohime is the High Priestess of Spring of the Daimah of Varja. Many Daimah still live on secret villages in the lands of Varja, and Aohime is regarded by them as their leader. She is a wizard of great powers, and her family has always held a position among the Fallen Angels. It is common knowledge that she doesn't trust Jingoku no Kami, and she was against him becoming a Fallen Angel. She shares the same opinion as Uttka and Dinah, but she is not against fighting (specially against the Inquisition) if it is necessary.
Adelisia Akerontes: Possibly the most powerful Duk'zarist summoner in ages, Adelisia is considered a wise woman. When many of her race saw Samael as an excuse for the Sylvain to control the remaining Duk'zarist, she convinced them to join Samael. In her own words, it was the only way to save themselves.
Medeus Nul Nos Uranus: A distant cousin of Angelus, Medeus is possibly the last Sylvain archmage. After the war against Rah, he travelled around the world in search of ancient knowledge of his race, trying to prevent it from disappearing. Fifty years ago, he came back to the organization, as a powerful mage with lots of experience. It was not long before his knowledge granted him a position as Supervisor. Recently, he was offered to become a Fallen Angel, but he decided not to accept.
Morrigan: Morrigan is a powerful entity. The most common theory is that she is one of the Demon Mothers, the ancient beings that give birth to demons using the souls of evil mortals. She has never stated her true nature though, and the only certain thing about her is that she has an incredible control over space and time. Why someone liker her, who can travel between the Wake and the real world at will, escaping from the Inquisition with ease, would choose to ally with Samael is unknown. Some say she fell in love with one of the Fallen Angels, others say that she is simply bored and Samael helps her having fun. She usually takes the shape of young woman, but in her true form, her lower half becomes a four metres tall behemoth able to destroy small armies with relative ease.
Chandak Dhayanta: The Dhayantas are the only Deva family within Samael, and possibly the only remaining Deva family in Gaia. Powerful summoners and wizards, the Dhayantas have never had one of their own as a Fallen Angel, but their influence within the organization is obvious. Chandak Dhayanta, current patriarch of the family, was the one to discover Jingoku no Kami. A summoner of great talent, due to his knowledge and influence, his words are always listened carefully. To date, he has never failed the organization, even going as far as asking for the execution of a former Fallen Angel when it was discovered he was working under the influence of Baal. The former Fallen Angel was executed, as it turned out Chandak was right. Not Finished
Look at Lord of War OOC Thread for more info about Magic, Psychic Powers, Ki, non human races and Blood Legacies. For now, interested people should fill the following character sheet:
Name: (Your Character's name and any alias)
Race: (Your Character's race. Aside from the Non Human races, you can be a supernatural entity of some kind. A demigod of unknown origins, a demon, a powerful elemental, a dragon... However you must know that if you choose one of this, you will probably have to alter your initial story to make it fit the setting. If you are interested on playing something like that, please ask about your idea before submitting the character sheet. If you choose Sylvain, Deva or Daimah as your race, you have to choose Magic as one of your sources of power. If you choose Duk'zarist you have to choose either Psychic Powers or Magic as one of your sources of power, and if you choose Psychic Powers, one of your specialties must be pyrokinesis)
Description: (A description of your character and his personal story)
Weapon of Choice: (Martial Arts could be a weapon of choice, as could be things like using mystical puppets that the character controls from a distance, their own shadow, gun-blade weapons or something else, although some options will obviously need special powers to work. Of course one can say more than one, but learning to master multiple weapons is time consuming, and might cause other skills and powers to be less developed. This can be lessened if the weapons fall under a very similar category, like swords, or are used as part of a common style, like lance, longsword, bastard sword and shield as part of a Kinght's typical weaponry). You could choose your character to not know how to use any weapon. This would increase the knowledge of Summoning, Magic or Psychic Powers of the Character.
Source of Power: (Which source of supernatural power your character has. He has to have at least one, at most three, although the less he has, the more powerful he will be with that power. You can also say that his source of power is more mundande, like subterfuge or mere skill with weapons, although in any case, your character will have a very basic knowledge of Ki at the very least, as his martial training will have probably make him discover some of the basic principles of Ki by himself. If you choose magic, specify the School/s of Magic (the less Schools you know, the more better you'll be at them) you prefer. If you choose Psychic powers, specify what you would prefer. If you choose Ki, please tell me how you see yourself using it (How do your manifestations of Ki look like, basicly). If you choose summoning, you can specialize, maybe you prefer to be able to summon elemental creatures (of the same element, like chosing Fire elementals, for example), you prefer to specialize on banishing creatures, or maybe you are at your best when you call for the help of ancient creatures like Aeons to give you special powers for a limited time (You don't have to chose, but doing so makes you quite better at your chosen field).
Skills: Some things your character is good at. The more you put here, the less of a true expert he'll be.
