Magma forge issues?

I have a magma forge, set up the same way I always do... center upper tile channeled out over 7/7 magma pool.  Despite this, and despite having tons of appropriate rock, I get the error "Must have magma-safe non-economic material" every time I try to build a magma forge/glass foundry/kiln.

Any ideas?

Get a magma-safe material, most of metals and stone will not work
